After a run of major releases and collaborations, BNXN opens another chapter with Still In Charge, a six-track EP that sees the Grammy-nominated Nigerian Afrofusion artist embrace a more energetic, carefree side of his sound.
Released via EMPIRE, the project follows his No. 1 sophomore album, CAPTAIN. It brings together previously released records with new material, capturing BNXN at a point where experimentation, reflection, and enjoyment increasingly intersect.

The EP opens with “Eja Meja”, BNXN’s collaboration with Asake, which debuted at No. 1 on Apple Music Nigeria and recorded more than 1.6 million streams in its first week.
He follows with “Online”, a record that addresses conversations around his absence while offering a glimpse into what was happening away from the spotlight. For BNXN, the period became an opportunity to create, reassess, and make deliberate decisions about his next move.
That mindset continues in “Deliberate Work”, where he reflects on discipline, wealth, and the choices that come with building a life and career on his own terms. In “16”, he looks back at his teenage years while exploring ambition, love, and the realities of fame.
The mood becomes lighter on “If You Like”, which leans into romance and escapism, before “Shamaya”, featuring FOLA, brings together romance, nightlife, and contemporary Nigerian energy.
Taken together, the six tracks present a more high-energy side of BNXN while retaining the introspection that has become part of his songwriting identity.
“I’m having the time of my life right now creating, experimenting, and making new experiences. This is probably my most high-energy, tempo-driven project yet. People have come to know me for records that are a little slower and more laid-back, so this time I wanted to give them a different side of me – something made for people to dance, have fun, and really enjoy themselves.”
For BNXN, however, the new project does not signal a departure from the world established with CAPTAIN.
“At the same time, it’s a reaffirmation thatCAPTAINis still here, still evolving and still in charge.”
The release comes amid a notable run for the Nigerian artist. CAPTAIN debuted at No. 1 in Nigeria and has surpassed 700 million global streams, while his collaborative project with Sarz, The Game Needs Us, reached No. 1 on Apple Music Nigeria and has crossed 170 million streams.
His hit single “Back Outside” has surpassed 105 million global streams and earned BNXN Song of the Year at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards.
His expanding catalogue has also taken him beyond Afrofusion’s usual boundaries. BNXN was recently announced as part of the official Children of Blood and Bone soundtrack alongside Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Fireboy DML, with Tems serving as curator and executive producer.
With more than 4.5 billion career streams and 5.5 million monthly listeners, BNXN has become one of Afrofusion’s established global voices, with collaborations that include Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema, Olamide, Dave, Popcaan, Seyi Vibez, Victony, Asake and Sarz.
With Still In Charge, BNXN isn’t necessarily attempting to reinvent himself. Instead, he expands the palette, turns up the tempo, and gives himself room to explore a lighter, more playful dimension of his artistry.
