Music Custodian announces a brand new episode of Music Custodian Sessions, featuring globally acclaimed producer Juls — the architect behind some of the most distinctive African and diasporic sounds of the last decade.
In this intimate sit-down filmed in Nairobi, Juls reflects on his creative evolution, cultural identity, and the sonic philosophy shaping his next chapter.

In the episode, Juls shares rare insights into his Kenyan recording experience, revealing moments from his studio sessions with local acts including the Ochungulo Family, Watendawili, Xenia Manasseh, Mau From Nowhere, Blinky, Shappa, and Maya- to mention a few.
“Every session has had a different vibe, a different feeling… everybody’s energy was up,” he says. He speaks on his deep affinity for the region’s Albaton-inspired rhythms, describing them as “fresh… something I gravitate toward because I’m a dancehall fan.”
On Music Custodian Sessions, Juls also opens up about the unexpected origin story behind Skin Tight, one of his most culturally defining creations. He recalls building the beat on the same day Arsenal defeated Leicester City in a last-minute thriller — a memory he ties to the emotional spark that shaped the record.
“Skin Tight became a hit and Arsenal didn’t win the league,” he jokes. “But next season, yeah.”

Episode 5 captures Juls at his most reflective — discussing diasporic belonging, protecting creative integrity, championing African producers, and shaping the next generation of global sound.
The episode premieres tomorrow on the Music Custodian YouTube channel.
